Robert P. Madison opened an office for the practice of architecture in Cleveland, Ohio on July 17, 1954. This was the first African American owned architecture firm in the State of Ohio and only the tenth in the United States.
On March 18, 2016, Sandra Madison, AIA, became majority owner and the firms new CEO & Chairperson. Along with her two business co-owners, R. Kevin Madison, AIA, President, and Robert Klann, AIA, CFO, the firm embarks on a new chapter of the Robert P Madison International, Inc. story. Today, the firm is the largest black female owned architecture firm in the State of Ohio. It should be noted that only 2% of all licensed architects are black and only 18% of all licensed architects are female.
The firm has significant experience in working in several types of project delivery methods including Design-Build (DB) Design-Bid-Build (DBB), and Construction Manager at Risk (CMR).
