DuWayne Baird

DuWayne Baird, CDT, LEED AP BD+C is an accomplished construction and green building professional with over 15 years of experience delivering LEED certifications across a diverse portfolio of project types. He has facilitated certification for over 6,300,000 square feet of Athletics, Retail, Office, Municipal, Hospitality, Healthcare, K-12 and Higher Education projects all over the U.S. DuWayne has a proven track record of successfully guiding buildings owners, design teams, and construction teams through all phases of LEED credit compliance and documentation requirements. He is highly proficient at helping project teams understand the nuances of various credit strategies within different LEED rating systems. DuWayne has also been a long time volunteer in the USGBC Ohio chapter, with a history of chapter leadership, legislative advocacy, trade show/event planning, and outreach efforts. He currently serves on the Market Leadership Advisory Board and it also actively engaged in the Technical Committee.

DuWayne brings a thorough understanding of energy efficiency, including the EnergyStar program, 179D Federal Tax Credit Incentives, Utility Energy Efficiency Rebate programs and Green Funding sources. He previously spent 4 years as the Technical Account Manager with the AEP Ohio Business Incentives New Construction program. While there, he helped lead B2B development initiatives with AEP Ohio customers, including school districts, higher education institutions, healthcare organizations, manufacturers and private business to enroll projects in the New Constructions program. His responsibilities involved ensuring supporting documentation was created and collected for engineering review, third-party audits and regulatory compliance with the Ohio Public Utilities Commission. During his time there, the New Construction program paid out $11 million dollars to AEP Ohio customers and claimed 160 million kilowatt hours of annual electric savings.

Finally, DuWayne served nearly a decade in the role as construction contract administrator and field representative at an architectural/engineering firm. He retains a strong interest in project delivery and construction contract administration principles.
